THE REAL: INTERVIEW WITH A GIRL WHO HAS BODY ENVY ISSUES
Sitting on the internet all day, looking at other girls, isn’t particularly great for your self esteem.

PRETTY REAL: Hey, why do you want to look like other girls on the internet?
Because they all look so perfect! They have slim waists, long hair, amazing legs and perfect bottoms. Looking at them makes me feel so insecure.
You know a lot of those girls have been photoshopped, right?
I know, but I’m still jealous. And not all of their bodies are computer assisted. I know I could look like them if I stopped eating so much junk, got off my lazy ass and went to the gym more often.
Do you go on Tumblr much?
Everyday! I have a love/hate relationship with it. I follow all these stupid ‘perfect body’ blogs, where the girls have insane abs and look like supermodels. Its great for inspiration, but it also makes me feel very depressed.
Yeah, the internet will do that to you.
My boyfriend finds it really weird. He tells me that all those internet girls aren’t attractive, but I know he’s lying. He’d dump me in a second if he could get with one of them.
Looks aren’t everything.
That’s what ugly people say to make themselves feel better. Looks aren’t everything, but they are very important. The first thing people see is your looks. I have a nice personality, but I want people to look at me and be attracted to what they see.
Are you looking for attention from men?
No, I have a boyfriend, so it’s not about that. I just want other girls to look at me and think ‘wow, she’s really got her shit together, I want to look just like her’. I guess a little sexual attraction from guys would be a nice ego boost, too. We all want to feel wanted.
Who do you most aspire to look like?
Well, there’s lots of nameless girls I see on the internet, but as far as celebrities go, I’d say Staz Lindes and Olga Kurylenko pretty much have the total package.
You know they probably have insecurities, too? Hardly anyone is totally happy with their body.
I find that really hard to believe. If I looked like either of them, I’d be happy, I’m sure of it. How can you be unhappy when people all over the world are aspiring to look just like you?
Makes sense, I guess. Good luck with getting that perfect body.
